Hometown Awards Acclaim Hall Brown As Manchester’s Best Family Law Firm

Hall Brown Family Law has hailed its latest award win as further evidence of its determination to set the highest standards for clients and colleagues on its home ground.
The firm has been named Family Law Team of the Year in the Manchester Legal Awards (MLAs) for the second time, having previously claimed the title in 2018.
Hall Brown was also Highly Commended in the Medium-sized Firm of the Year category.
It comes only months after Hall Brown was described as “simply the best in the North West” by one of the country’s premier legal industry rankings.
Senior Partner Sam Hall said that despite the progress of the firm’s nationwide operations, the MLA triumph reflected its local focus.
“Of all the awards which we have been very fortunate to receive since we launched, this is very much the one which we have wanted to win as it not only reflects the roots of the business as well as our commitment to excellence.
“We are and will always be a Manchester firm, even as we increase the number of clients whom we represent both across the rest of the country and overseas.
“The city is blessed with many wonderful family lawyers and to be recognised as the best is a tremendous boost for everyone involved with Hall Brown.
“When we started, we set ourselves the goal of providing the very highest standard of service possible. To be able to bring on board others who not only share that vision but have been able to maintain our levels of performance over the last, very challenging year is remarkable.”
Over the last 12 months, Hall Brown has seen turnover and staffing levels each increase by almost 20 per cent.
Mr Hall said that progress had been made as a “direct result” of the firm’s efforts to help employees and clients alike cope with the physical and mental challenges of lockdown.
Only weeks after the Government announced stringent measures to control the spread of coronavirus, Hall Brown added a third office in Sheffield – headed by partner Alison Fernandes – to existing teams in both Manchester and London.
It now boasts almost 50 members of staff.
Hall Brown also retained its place in The Times’ list of the ‘Best 200 Law Firms’ in England and Wales for a third successive year and was dubbed “simply the best in the North West” by the Legal 500 ranking.
Four of its lawyers – Mr Hall and his co-founder James Brown and partners Beth Wilkins and Andrew Newbury – named as Leading Individuals by Legal 500, more than any other firm in the region.
In addition to being named as a Band 1 firm by the Chambers and Partners’ guide, Hall Brown also saw a number of its team singled out for praise as Band 1 family lawyers in their own right.
Co-founder and Senior Partner, Sam Hall, was also the only family lawyer outside London to feature in an exclusive list of the country’s 20 top practitioners drawn up by Citywealth.
Mr Hall earned a five-star rating and was described by institutional colleagues, fellow lawyers and clients as offering “first-class”, “outstanding” advice. He was, said one, “undoubtedly the best in his field”.
