Michael Swanick

Associate Solicitor

Michael joined Hall Brown in September 2023 as an associate, and is based at our Manchester office.

Michael qualified as a solicitor in September 2018, after having trained at a multi-service national law firm, within their family team. Since then, he has represented a wide range of clients regarding all areas of private family law.

Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, Michael spent over 12 years working in the regulatory sector. This involved various roles, including investigation positions at the Legal Services Ombudsman, the Insolvency Service, and the General Medical Council, where he was an Assistant Registrar and coordinated their safeguarding functions.

Michael is part of Hall Brown’s specialist children team and advises on matters including arrangements for children after separation, Special Guardianship orders, and in situations which involve domestic abuse allegations involving non-molestation and/or occupation order applications. Michael’s caseload consists of a range of complex matters where safeguarding, substance abuse, and parental alienation concerns are often a factor. As well as representing parents, Michael also acts for other family members including grandparents.

Michael brings his wide-ranging depth of experience to his role as a family associate. As well as private children matters, Michael also advises and represents clients on all aspects of divorce, separation, and financial settlements.

Michael is a member of Resolution and recognises that clients requiring advice on family matters are invariably experiencing difficult and life changing issues. With that in mind, he prides himself on providing clients with a calm and pragmatic approach to resolving their problems.
