Emma Hubbard

Senior Solicitor

Emma joined Hall Brown in January 2023 having qualified in 2007 and practised family law since 2004.

Before joining Hall Brown, Emma worked in Sheffield and spent several years at Irwin Mitchell where she worked alongside Hall Brown’s Martin Loxley, Alison Fernandes, Zoe Round and Melanie Hadwin.

Although based in Yorkshire, Emma conducts cases nationally and internationally. She has particular expertise in complex private law children cases in which she has built an excellent reputation for providing first class advice and representation. She is often seen as the “go to” lawyer in this area. Emma has advised and supported parents needing help to resolve the day-to-day arrangements for their children through to the more complex cases involving international and internal relocation of children, allegations of domestic abuse, allegations of alienating behaviours, Surrogacy and Parental Orders. Emma’s expertise in complex children cases led to her representing the father in the reported case of F v M (Parental Responsibility of a non-biological father) [2024] EWFC 377.

Emma has a neurodiverse child with a diagnosis of Autism and ADHD. This gives Emma first-hand experience and insight into the needs of neurodiverse families and the difficulties that many face, especially where families separate.

Alongside her complex private children practice, Emma also represents clients going through relationship breakdown including divorce, financial separation/agreements, cohabitation issues and protection from domestic abuse including applications for Non-Molestation and Occupation Orders.

Emma is a member of Resolution and supports clients in trying to resolve issues in an amicable and constructive manner. She is highly praised by clients and work referrers for her calm, straight forward communication, going the extra mile to achieve the best possible outcome, whilst also being tenacious in her approach and strategy. This has been recognised in the legal directories where Emma has been ranked by Chambers and Partners and is named in the Legal 500, following feedback from clients and other professionals with whom Emma works.
