Maria joined Hall Brown as a paralegal in July 2025.
She graduated from the University of Southampton with an Upper Second Class LLB in June 2022. She was awarded the Dean’s List Award for Outstanding Achievement in her final year and achieved a First in her family law module.
During her studies, Maria volunteered with a charity focused on challenging the unjust application of joint enterprise in criminal law, contributing to the production of a legal report. She also undertook work experience with an immigration law firm. These experiences deepened her empathy and reinforced her commitment to supporting individuals through complex and sensitive legal issues.
After graduating, Maria joined a global sustainability company where she progressed to the role of Junior Legal Counsel in the in-house legal team. This position enabled her to build both her legal and commercial skills while studying for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).
She successfully completed the SQE in 2024, achieving top quintile results in SQE1 and passing the SQE2. Before joining Hall Brown, she completed a work placement at a family law firm, gaining experience predominantly in international children law.
Having grown up in Ecuador, Maria can speak Spanish. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, Pilates and spending time with her family and friends.
