Ellen joined Hall Brown as a qualified solicitor in May 2016, after completing her training with Sam Hall and James Brown.
Ellen specialises in all areas of family law, with a particular focus on matrimonial finance. She has extensive experience advising high-net-worth individuals in financial disputes arising on divorce. Her expertise encompasses cases involving businesses, property portfolios, private equity interests and share options, inherited wealth and family trust structures.
Ellen is regularly instructed in cases where the financial landscape includes international assets, complex corporate structures, and family businesses, ensuring that each financial settlement is handled with the utmost discretion and expertise. Recognised for her strategic approach and meticulous attention to detail, Ellen is known for her ability to navigate even the most complex financial arrangements with precision, while maintaining a focus on achieving commerical, tailored solutions for her clients. She is particularly adept at working with professionals such as forensic accountants, tax specialists, and private client advisers to secure the best outcomes.
She has experience working on cases with assets ranging between £500,000 to £750 million and has represented a diverse range of clients including, teachers, accountants, lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, celebrities and international sport stars. Ellen’s commitment to delivering a first-class, client-focused service has earned her a reputation for patience, understanding, and diligence.
She also has experience advising in relation to prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, as well as cohabitation disputes.
Beyond her legal practice, Ellen is a prominent figure in the Manchester business community. As Chair of JCI Manchester in 2019, she was recognised as the Best President in the UK and Europe. In 2020 and 2023, Ellen was shortlisted for Lawyer of the Year at the Made in
Manchester Awards, and she has been named in the Manchester Evening News Rising Star List twice, where she was celebrated as “the star of her generation.”
Ellen also contributes regularly to leading legal and business publications, including The Times and Family Law Journal, where she shares insights on family law developments.
