Hall Brown Family Law has said that the appointment of another senior lawyer illustrates the growing impact being made by the firm in London.
Priya Palanivel has joined Hall Brown as Partner and joint Head of its office in the capital.
It follows 12 months which have seen fee income generated by its London team increase by one-third as a result of a surge in caseload.
Partner Izzy Walsh, who was appointed to lead the firm’s operations when it opened in the city in 2019, has described how the very fact Hall Brown was able to attract individuals of Ms Palanivel’s calibre was testimony to the team’s continuing progress.
“When we launched in London, we understood the strength of the competition that we would be up against.
“However, we were confident that by providing an excellent service we would be able to attract both extremely capable lawyers and clients.
“In that sense, Priya’s arrival is an example of why the London team deserves great credit for having made such significant in-roads in a short space of time, both in the city itself and further afield.
“She is a hugely experienced individual whose reputation has been founded on her ability to deal with some very complex cases.
“In addition to being a proven litigator, as a fully qualified mediator and collaborative lawyer,
Priya will add significantly to the existing strengths of our non-court dispute resolution team.
“For clients and ambitious lawyers alike, Hall Brown London is now regarded as a force to be reckoned with and that is something which stands us in good stead for the future.”
After qualifying in 2005, Ms Palanivel has spent much of her career working within a boutique family law firm environment similar to that at Hall Brown.
Described by one of the country’s most prestigious legal rankings, Legal 500, as an “exceptional…stand-out lawyer”, she has become particularly well-known for handling cases which often involve international elements or complex assets and contentious aspects of children’s law.
As well as being an acknowledged litigator, Ms Palanivel qualified as a mediator in 2017 and sits on the Standards Committee of Resolution, the body which represents family lawyers.
She becomes the 12th member of the team at Hall Brown’s offices on Bedford Row, in London and arrives at Hall Brown with the firm regarded as very much part of the country’s family law elite, having earned a prominent place in the Legal 500, Chambers and Partners, eprivateclient and Times Best 250 Law firms classifications.
The collective ranking success comes with Hall Brown on course to post new record turnover on the back of an increase in workload not just in London but at its four other offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Sheffield.
